  • Nick Pastrano

    Music Director

Nick is not only a new dad but is the lead guitarist for the band Solomon, touring both nationally and internationally while maintaining a full roster of students at School of Rock. One lesson with him reveals a vibrant musician with a whole lot of talent. His love for music soared when he started middle school and had the opportunity to play guitar. He had watched his father play guitar as a child and knew there was no turning back once he had one in his hands. Nick continued to play guitar throughout his high school years, joining bands and honing his skills. When the opportunity to form Solomon arose, he allowed music to become more than just a hobby. With Solomon, Nick recorded a full-length album entitled, Conqueror, under Red Cord Records out of Illinois. He counts landing international shows and creating a following for Solomon one of his biggest musical achievements - something he only dreamed would happen when he was a beginning guitarist. Nick loves working at School of Rock because he is allowed to teach kids more than how to play an instrument. He is teaching them to be successful inside and outside of the school. Motto: You only fail if you never try. Second Motto: I'm sad because I didn't practice, and now I'm terrible. Interesting Fact: His great uncle is Jim Morrison.

  • Brad Torres

    General Manager

By the time Brad graduated high school, he had already been in the Kansas City Youth Symphony as a concert tubist, he had performed theatrically at the Shawnee Mission Theatre in the Park for crowds of thousands, he’d traveled to London to march in the New Year’s Parade, and he’d sung at the Kansas City Music Hall with his award-winning barbershop quartet. In 2005, Brad attended the Conservatory of Music at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, pursuing a degree in Musical Theatre with an emphasis in theory and composition. During college, he performed with Vox Vir, an all-male chamber choir, he was in the chorus of two operas, he was in a staged reading for the KC Crossroads play-writing festival, and he starred in several musicals. In 2007, he joined his first band, Almost 8, a cover band that focused mostly on ska and funk music. In 2009, Brad and his best friend, Allen, formed an arts cooperative called Ogrot, which employed countless artists of various backgrounds and conceptualized, scripted, and performed vaudeville-style music and comedy across the Midwest, focusing on Renaissance Festivals. In late 2010, Brad joined the Beerside Scoundrels, a comedic folk band that performed mostly at Renaissance Festivals; he would serve as their lead lyricist. Brad would marry in 2012, that year starting a vaudeville and circus troupe with his wife that notably performed in every Kansas City Fringe Festival since 2012, winning best of Fringe in 2013 for a musical he conceptualized and composed. Brad moved to Houston in September of 2016; he was employed as an entertainer by Howl at the Moon, the dueling piano bar, at the beginning of November, and started giving regular vocal instruction at School of Rock in December.

  • Will Herrington

Instructor - Guitar, Bass, Drums, Keys, and Vocals

Will finds his musical roots in a familial love of music. Growing up, everyone in his house - his multiple sisters, his parents - played some sort of instrument, and it inspired a fervor to learn them himself. By his teenage years, he had joined his first band. By 20, he had been on his first tour. On the way to these moments in his life, Will took up the trombone, piano, drums, and learned to play the guitar. His deftness with a variety of instruments lead him to be a versatile instructor proficient in every instrument that we offer. Will prides himself on his skill with a variety of instruments as it allows him to give students a variety of avenues through which they can comprehend the theory behind music, and apply to playing the actual music. Beyond just learning where to put your fingers on the piano, and when to not sing this note, or do belt that note, Will hopes to impart each student with the same appreciation, but a chance to learn life lessons. “Music has always been an escape from anything I needed an escape from, and I want to give someone an opportunity to have the same escape.”

  • Juan Escobar

    Instructor - Bass and Drums

Juan is a multi-instrumentalist instructor and the bassist for the band LifeDeath and its predecessor, Solomon.
